Trustee “Marvellous Mike” has shown an outstanding commitment to The Woodlawns Centre and the community it serves.

Recently, Mike came out of retirement to take part in a 5k fundraising event, raising an impressive £527 for the charity. With more than 300 park runs and several marathons to his name, his passion for running and giving back demonstrates the energy and dedication he brings to everything he does.

Mike joined The Woodlawns Centre’s Board of Trustees in 2024, beginning a new chapter in his long-standing connection with the charity. His relationship with the Centre stretches back even further—he and his late wife were the very first couple to marry at Woodlawns in 2009, following the Centre’s successful application for a marriage licence.

As well as his fundraising efforts and trustee responsibilities, Mike helps run the ever-popular Monday morning Quiz, bringing people together each week for fun, friendship and community spirit.

Whether he is raising funds, supporting Centre activities or contributing to local projects, Mike’s enthusiasm and commitment make a real difference. We are proud to have him as part of The Woodlawns Centre family—and we think you’ll agree that the nickname “Marvellous Mike” is thoroughly deserved!
